Elijah's Birthday Weekend

So for Eli's first birthday, we juggled back and forth with whether or not to throw a big birthday bash or to just keep it small and simple.  And with almost 3 years of parenting under our belt, we have learned that when the kids are young, it is best to keep things simple.  I think we made a good decision too.  My parents and grandparents drove to Lawton on Thursday night and we spent the weekend celebrating Eli's birthday together.  And of course, when they are this young, when it is one kiddos birthday, the other seems to think it is his birthday as well! So Eli AND Josiah had a great time this weekend! Oh, and eventhough we kept it small, in my mind it still needed a theme and it had to be Toy Story since that is Eli's favorite movie right now. I am so glad that we got to share Eli's big day with my parents and grandparents.  We had such a good time and the weekend went by way too fast!

Elijah Neal {one year}

My Dear Elijah,

I cannot believe that you are already a big one year old! My oh my how time is flying.  I want to keep you little but at the same time, I can't wait to see the man that you'll grow to be.  I pray daily that the Lord would capture your heart at a young age and that you would be as David was-a man after God's own heart.

Did I mention that I LOVE this age?...this wonderful age of learning to walk and starting to explore everything.  It keeps me on my toes but it is so fun to watch you learning new things everyday...

I love how you dump all the books off the bottom shelf of my bookcase.

I love how you play with my necklace as I put you to sleep.

I love how you love to take baths...and how you lift your leg up thinking that you can get in the tub by yourself.

I love how you chase Josiah around the house hoping that he will slow down for two seconds just so that you can catch up.

I love how your red hair shines in the sunlight.

I love that you love to eat...and how you shovel everything in with the palm of your hand-getting more food on you than in your mouth!

I love to listen to your "roaring contests" with Daddy...your little raspy roar is the cutest thing.

I love how you have to taste every single rock that you pick up outside.

I love your little eight-tooth smile.

...and your chunky feet.

I love to watch you wrestle and have pillow fights with Daddy and Josiah.

I love how you wave when we say "bye-bye" and shake your head when we say "no-no".

I love how you try to grab every single thing as we walk down the aisles of the grocery store.

I love that I am your favorite person right now...I know that it won't always be this way!

I love that you are ours! We are so blessed to be your parents Eli! We love you so much!
