Elijah Neal {4 years old}

Dear Eli,

Today you are four years old! I just finished reading your birthday blog post from when you turned three.  And just about everything in that post from a year ago still rings true today.  You are still pretty dramatic....you still demand coffee and bacon every morning...you are still a people person and you love to be the center of attention...you still have that red hair and the attitude that goes with it.... you still talk constantly....And now that your vocabulary is expanding, you use words that I don't even know how you know what they mean!

But some things have changed...

You are sleeping much better now.  You occasionally wake up during the night when you've had too much sugar during the day.
You don't take naps anymore.
You are no longer at home with mommy everyday because you started preschool last fall and you are doing really well.
 Your obsession with trains has transferred to angry birds which will be the theme of your birthday party on Saturday!
You are not so much a momma's boy anymore.  You have definitely become a daddy's boy.  It makes me a little sad but also really happy.  Every little boy needs the kind of relationship that you have with your daddy.  You want to go and do everything with him....from hanging out at his office to fishing.  You don't really care what it is, you just want to be with him.

Eli, you are also handsome like your daddy.  You are also headstrong like your daddy too! But that is a good thing if you use it to become a leader of good things like your daddy.  I pray every day that God equips us to be the parents who instill in you what it means to be a follower of Jesus and one who leads people to Jesus.  That is what you were created to do.

It is a joy to be your mommy Elijah! You surprise me everyday in so many different ways.  You were beautifully and wonderfully made.  You will always have my love.

Happy 4th Birthday!

Love,
Mommy
