Today you turned 6 years old! I don't know if my mommy heart can take you turning 6 and starting kindergarten in the same week. As bittersweet as it is to see you growing so fast, it also fills me with great joy to see the little boy that God is shaping you to be. You are sweet, caring and sensitive. You are smart and observant...you seem to notice the little details that go unnoticed to those around you.
Last night at bedtime, I read you your favorite books at the moment....Lets Imagine at the Zoo and Dinosaurs Galore. You know all the names of just about every animal and every dinosaur. When I pointed out a bird, you said, "no, its a hawk!"
As I listened to you pray and sing after we read, my heart was filled with even more joy. And as you drifted off to sleep, I realized that at that exact time, six years ago, I was about 4 hours away from giving birth to you. Those were the scariest hours of my life as we came so close to losing you. But God had a wonderful plan for you and He filled your lungs with air and bestowed on me and your daddy mercy, grace, love and joy!
I am so thankful that God saw fit to make me your mommy 6+ years ago. I can't imagine what I would do without my 'Siah. You fill me with so much joy!
As I recall your smile as you headed off to kindergarten this morning with cupcakes for your class, I smile too. I love you so much Josiah. Happy 6th Birthday!
Love,
Mommy
