Baby Blog {14 weeks 4 days}

I am so thankful that I am feeling better now that I have entered the second trimester.  I'm still not showing very much but I'm told that is normal with a first time pregnancy.  But now that the nausea has let up, my appetite has also increased and I suddenly have a huge craving for Chinese food.  I'm still craving fruit too, but I'm trying to add in more protein because we both need the iron, especially since I am anemic.

The one major food aversion that I have is hamburger meat.  Even the smell of it cooking makes me sick!

Jordan has been so wonderful and he is such a huge help to me when I'm too tired to clean or cook dinner.  This morning he left for Cal Poly, California for a baseball tournament.  He'll be back in three days but it always seems like an eternity when he is gone.  He truly is my best friend and will make such a wonderful dad.

I've really been focused on praying for this baby lately.  I pray mainly that the Lord would open our child's eyes to salvation at an early age and draw our child unto Himself.  But I've also been praying for our child's future spouse, should it be God's will that he/she marries.  I want this child to grow up knowing the importance of keeping his body, heart and mind pure.  I look at the world today and I am saddened by the impure, abusive and destructive relationships that I see...and the fact that babies are having babies just blows my mind but I'm not going to get off on that soap box right now... anyway, I have an appointment coming up on March 6th and will update then!

Baby Blog {12 weeks 5 days}

Hello little one,

It has been about a month since I have written about you but that doesn't mean that I haven't been thinking about you.  In fact, you are constantly on my mind!

As soon as my eyes open in the morning, I'm thinking about you- wondering if a wave of nausea is going to hit me when I stand up.  I think about you as I wake up several times during the night because you are pressing down on my bladder. But most of all, I think about what color your eyes will be, the smile that will melt our hearts, what your first word will be, the first steps you will take...I think about what your personality will be like. Will you be multi-talented, super intelligent, and proctrastinate like your daddy? Will you inherit his gift for preaching/speaking?... or will you be more like me?...A planner and list maker who is very neat and organized? Will you inherit my love for writing?

I'm sure that you will develop your own personality along with a mixture of traits from each of us.  My main concern is that we raise you to love the Lord and come to know Him as your Savior.  The bible says in Proverbs: "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." It is my prayer each and everyday that the Lord will make us fit parents who raise you by His words and commandments.

Not to change the subject, but today I had a doctor's appointment.  So far, I have gained four pounds.  By the time I am twenty weeks along, the doctor wants me to have gained a total of ten pounds.  So I have several weeks to gain six more pounds, which shouldn't be hard to do since my appetite is returning now that most of the nausea has subsided.

The doctor also let me hear your heartbeat today.  Before he placed the doppler on my tummy, he told me not to get upset if we didn't hear anything because it's not very often that the doppler will pick up the heartbeat at this stage in a pregnancy.  However, we immediately heard your strong little heart as soon as that thing was placed on me! I can't explain how happy that sound makes me!

Here's my first pregnancy bump picture...a slight bump has finally started to form!

Baby Blog {8 weeks 4 days}

Today I had some routine exams and bloodwork drawn by Dr. Nguyen.  He also prescribed me some medicine for the nausea that I have been having all day, just about everyday.  As hard as it is to cope with feeling sick all day while also holding down my job at the bank, I keep reminding myself that the nausea is a good sign that my body is producing all the right hormones and that our baby is growing.

I haven't gained any weight yet but my doctor said that is normal in the first trimester.  Thankfully, I have been able to keep all of my food down.  At first, I was craving spicey foods like boneless hot wings, hot sauce and Mexican food.  But now I want fruit, fruit and more fruit! This is what my daily diet usually consists of: oatmeal, milk and fruit for breakfast, fruit and crackers for a mid-morning snack, chicken salad or a chicken sandwich for lunch, fruit for a snack, and dinner is usually something easy to pull together because I am always so wiped out after work.  Tonight your daddy bought a pizza on his way back from school because I couldn't pull myself from the couch!

My doctor also discussed having optional tests ran when I am further along to screen for down syndrome and birth defects of that nature.  Your daddy and I talked about it and we do not see a need in having it done.  It's extremely sad and makes me very angry, but many women these days have these tests ran in order to terminate the pregnancy if something abnormal shows up.  It breaks my heart! We would never even consider this as an option.  We love you and we know that you will turn out exactly as God wills.

Unexpected Blessing {8 weeks 1 day}

Dear Baby,

You are what I've been calling our unexpected blessing.  I have to admit, we were both in shock when we first found out on December 12, 2008, only five months after our wedding.  I had just turned twenty one and your daddy turned twenty-two the day before we found out. So you are also our birthday surprise!   But surprise and shock has turned into complete joy, excitement and thankfulness. We know that God is forming you in my womb to fulfil a purpose.  You are being wonderfully and beautifully made.  We can't wait to meet you!

We told our whole family about you at Christmas by wrapping pacifiers in little gift boxes.  Everyone is so excited about you!

On December 19th, we got our first glimpse of you-just a little blob on the sonogram screen. And today we heard your heart beat for the first time at 149 BMP and we were also given a due date of August 16, 2009. The sound of your heart beating was definitely the most precious thing I have ever heard.  And the sight of you...so sweet...this time we could actually see little nubs starting to protrude, which will eventually become your arms and legs....arms that hug and legs that pitter patter down the hall...

We love you little one.
